Native Plants: Getting Back to Our Roots

2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Twinsburg Public Library
Meeting Room 1
Native Roots, Inc. is a small, sister-owned and operated native plant nursery and retailer. Its goal is to be a resource for home owners and businesses concerned about ecological restoration.

The presentation will introduce important native plant species, key benefits of native plants in the home garden, and the challenges we face bringing them back into our landscape.

Sonia Bingham is a professional Wetland Biologist with a B.S. in Biology from Hiram College and a M.S. in Environmental Science with an emphasis in restoration ecology from The Ohio State University. Sonia has nearly 20 years’ experience in wetland and aquatic ecology. Together with her sister, Jennifer Johnson, and Native Roots’ Restoration Ecologist, Andrew Bishop, they have extensive experience in the greenhouse and landscaping industries, as well as biology, environmental consulting, restoration planning and chemical engineering fields, to bring an eclectic mix of skills into the operation.

Stanley Stine, Naturalist for the City of Twinsburg, and Marcia Carsten of the Twinsburg Garden Club will also be on hand to answer questions on Native Plants and Pollinators.

Master Gardener Volunteers are eligible for 2 CEUs.
